In the quest for radiant, healthy skin, the guidance of a skilled aesthetician can be invaluable. These trusted skincare experts have a deep understanding of skin physiology and how to treat your skin’s unique needs to reveal your most radiant skin.

We asked our team of expert aestheticians for their best hacks and rounded up their top five tips & tricks you need to try to aim for glowing, youthful skin!

1. Double Cleansing

Aestheticians all over the globe swear by this super simple trick. Double cleansing has gotten a lot of press in recent years, but this method of deeply cleaning skin isn’t new! The double cleanse technique has been hailed for decades as the secret to fresh, radiant skin and ultra-clean pores.

To double cleanse, you’ll need two kinds of cleansers: one to remove makeup and oil from the skin’s surface, and one to gently deep clean pores. Just like you rinse a dish, removing food residue before putting it in the dishwasher for a deep clean, these two products work together to clear the skin’s surface and clean deep into pores.

Aestheticians recommend using an oil-based formula for the first cleanse or even a makeup wipe to help remove makeup from the skin’s surface. This first step helps to reveal fresh skin, allowing the second cleanse to work deeper into the pores. For your second cleanse, consider using a nourishing, oil-free formula that will remove residual grime without stripping skin.

In addition, your second cleanse could incorporate an exfoliating element, like a chemical exfoliant (glycolic acid is an uber-popular one), or a physical exfoliant like the micro-dot side of NuFACE Prep-N-Glow® Exfoliating and Hydrating Facial Wipes. These dual-sided wipes are easy to use, making cleansing and exfoliating convenient and quick. One side removes dirt, oil, and makeup, while the lightly textured reverse side removes dead skin cells and clarifies pores.

2. Use an Antioxidant Serum

Serums are serious business. These highly concentrated formulas are super-charged skin treatments in a bottle. A serum delivers essential ingredients to your skin in a formula that hydrates and protects the skin before you apply your favorite moisturizer.

Aestheticians agree that loading up on antioxidants is essential for great skin. Antioxidants protect the skin from free radicals, molecules that attack healthy skin cells. The skin produces free radicals when exposed to external stressors, like pollution, UV rays from the sun, and even cigarette smoke. Free radical damage can result in dullness, flaky skin, and fine lines.

Antioxidants support skin cells during exposure to free radicals; you can find them in high-quality serums. NuFACE Super Antioxidant Booster Serum is an ultra-clean formula with green tea extract and a blend of antioxidant-loaded berries to fight off free radical damage for smooth, radiant skin.

3. Give Your Eyes Some Attention

The eyes are one of the first places on the face to show the early signs of aging. As we age, our facial muscles begin to shrink. In addition, they stretch and pull the skin into facial expressions that can leave small lines and deep wrinkles - like crow’s feet or crepey skin under eyes.

To smooth the delicate skin around the eyes, aestheticians agree that you need gentle-yet-effective solutions, like NuFACE FIX® Serum. This targeted serum helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and brightens the skin of the eye area. Formulated with hyaluronic acid, a triple peptide complex, and IonPlex®, this serum delivers hydration and boosts the skin’s ability to remain resilient with age. Use it solo or with microcurrent therapy (more on that later) to effectively tighten, smooth, and plump skin.

4. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

It can’t be overstated. In addition to wearing sunscreen, hydrating the skin is one of the most common skincare “hacks” aestheticians recommend to their clients. Skincare that targets blemish-prone skin can be drying and harsh, and many cleansers contain ingredients that strip the skin of its natural moisture and damage the skin barrier, leaving it dehydrated.

Keeping your skin hydrated supports a clear complexion, helping you control problematic skin. A simply hydrating facial mist is one way to boost your hydration levels. This is especially important during winter, when the air is drier, and you’re exposed to indoor heaters. Even though you apply your moisturizer in the morning, your skin might feel dry within a few hours - and this is an effective way to quench skin’s thirst in seconds.

NuFACE Supercharged IonPlex Facial Mist is a lightweight, clean formula that hydrates and soothes even the most sensitive skin. Packed with glacial water and hyaluronic acid to hydrate, plump and lock in moisture, niacinamide to soothe irritation, and ceramides to rebuild the skin barrier, this multitasking mist is perfect for just about everyone.

5. Harness The Power of the Current

Microcurrent therapy uses low-level electrical currents to stimulate both the skin and the facial MUSCLES, targeting the two primary forms of skin aging. This tried-and-true skin treatment has been a trusted treatment of expert aestheticians for decades and is clinically proven to treat a myriad of aging skin issues.

From fine lines and wrinkles (think crow’s feet and smile lines) to sagging skin, jowls, loss of definition, or loose skin on the neck - microcurrent therapy is a non-invasive solution to tighten, lift, and smooth skin. This painless anti-aging solution can be administered by a professional, like your aesthetician, or performed at home with NuFACE handheld devices.

NuFACE Microcurrent Devices have variable settings to adjust your at-home treatment to the most comfortable level. NuFACE also offers multiple devices to treat delicate skin around the eyes and lips and larger areas of skin, like the cheeks, neck, chest, and even arms and legs.

Here’s how to get started with this aesthetician-beloved treatment:

Getting Started With Microcurrent

The NuFACE TRINITY + Starter Kit has everything you need to jumpstart your microcurrent journey in just 5 minutes per day. Here’s a quick, foolproof routine:

PREP: Cleanse your skin with an oil-free cleanser like Prep-N-Glow Wipes to remove makeup and impurities.

BOOST: Massage in 3-5 drops of your favorite NuFACE Super Booster serum. For added hydration and skin-soothing, spritz on Supercharged IonPlex Mist.

ACTIVATE: Your Starter Kit comes with two FDA-Cleared Microcurrent Activators specially formulated to conduct microcurrent while moisturizing skin. You can choose the one that is best for your skin type. For sensitive, oily or acne prone skin, Aqua Gel adds sheer, lightweight hydration. For dry, normal or mature skin, opt for Silk Crème, which firms and brightens skin while aimed at deeply hydrating for up to 48 hours.

LIFT: Using your TRINITY+, perform glides and holds along the neck and face to lift and sculpt. Focus on areas where you need to add definition, like the jawline, cheekbones, or brows, for a youthful look. In just five minutes daily, you’ve treated lines, wrinkles, and targeted skin aging to help keep your skin radiant and youthful. Your aesthetician would be proud!

There’s a Hack for That

Skincare shouldn’t be complicated or unnecessarily time-consuming. If it is, scale back and determine what your skin needs. Less is usually more, and natural therapies, like microcurrent, can help work synergistically with your skin to keep it radiant and youthful.
