Frequently Asked Questions

The NuFace® Treatment

How quickly will I see results?

Immediately, lift half your face then do a comparison of each side. You will notice the instant lift. The results are cumulative; each treatment builds upon the last. For enhanced results use the advanced technique with NuFace® serums.

What type of results will I see?

After using the NuFace® device you will experience tighter skin, more defined jaw line and cheekbones, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, lifted eyebrow, wider eye, and a more youthful glow. With prolonged NuFace® use the results enhance and last longer. In addition, the skin is thicker and more buoyant, jowls and nasolabial lines are reduced or eliminated, and muscles are lifted and tighter.

How much current will I feel?

Microcurrent is a low level current that is very soothing and relaxing. A slight tingling may be felt in certain areas. Facial sensitivity varies from individual to individual. You can lower or raise the intensity during any segment by turning the thumbwheel up or down on the machine.

How much conductivity gel should be applied to my face?

A thin layer of conductivity gel should be applied to your face to allow the current to be transferred directly to the muscles and to glide the NuFace® device easily over the contours of your face without pulling the skin. DO NOT allow the conductivity gel to dry while performing your NuFace® treatment. Spray the Optimizing Mist over the conductivity gel to keep moist.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment takes roughly 5+ minutes. Use the Advanced Techniques (view video) for enhanced results.

Why do I have to stay out of the mouth and eye areas?

The mouth and eye area are circular muscles and need to be treated in accordance of the muscle direction. Due to the design of the NuFace® device, it can not work those muscles properly and those muscles should be avoided. However, microcurrent does travel so improvement will be seen around the mouth and eyes.

How fast should I be gliding the NuFace® device?

Take your time with the NuFace® treatment; each step should be roughly a long 5 count (one- one thousand, two-one thousand, etc.). When using the advanced techniques, hold each point for 5 seconds.

When should I lift my face, in the morning or night?

You may use the NuFace® device once a day, at anytime that fits your schedule. The NuFace® device acts as an extension of your daily skincare regimen.

Can the NuFace® device be used wearing make-up or skin care products?

Yes. A skincare serum (with the exception of Vitamin A) can be applied to your clean dry skin before the conductivity gel. The microcurrent will penetrate the serum deeper. The NuFace® device may only be used with a conductive liquid or gel, preferably the conductivity gel included in your NuFace® Kit. The Optimizing Mist is used post treatment as a finishing spray and can be used during the NuFace® treatment to keep the conductivity gel moist. All products including serums can be ordered through our website www.myNuFace.com or through an authorized NuFace® retailer. No. Your skin should not have any make-up or moisturizers on before using the NuFace® device.

How many times a week should I use the NuFace® device at home?

Within the first 90 days we recommend to use the NuFace® at least 5 times a week. Then, use the NuFace® at least 2-3 times a week to maintain the lift and tone.

How long do these results last?

The treatment results are cumulative. Results from one NuFace® treatment should last approximately 24-72 hours.

Can I lift my face more than once a day at home?

Any more often than once in a 24 hour period is not recommended as the muscles need some rest time between treatments. Extend treatment time or incorporate the advanced technique for optimal results.

Can I use the NuFace® device if I have rosacea, acne, broken capillaries or skin cancer?

NuFace® can be on rosacea, acne and broken capillaries. We recommend lowering the intensity of the NuFace® to avoid sensitivity. NuFace® should not be used if you have skin cancer. Consult your physician.

Microcurrent Technology

Is Microcurrent technology the same as Galvanic technology?

No. Microcurrent works with the facial muscles to stimulate and tone. Microcurrent is also known to increase collagen, elastin, circulation, ATP and product penetration. Galvanic only penetrates product deeper and delivers no benefits to the muscles.

Since NuFace® does not contract the muscles how does it tone them?

Microcurrent produces proliferation of cells by fibroblasts' secretion of proteins such as collagen. Additionally, it works on the nerves and muscle cells to increase tonicity of the fine facial muscles by speeding up the rate at which the body produces its own muscle protein. Research has shown that results of microcurrent are not only dramatic but long lasting. Microcurrent is known to repair and regenerate tissue; it is a corrective and preventive anti-aging treatment unlike other relative systems such as muscle contractors (devices that contract the muscle) whose temporary effect acts as a band-aid in the aging process.

I have heard microcurrent technology was used on Bell’s Palsy patients. Is that true?

Yes, microcurrent technology was and is used to treat Bell’s Palsy patients. Bell’s Palsy is facial paralysis, usually effects one side of the face only. The cause is unknown, but inflammation of one of the facial nerves results in muscle paralysis to one side of the face. As their facial muscles atrophy (sag) microcurrent is used to rehabilitate the muscles. Doctors noticed not only was the muscles lifted and toned but fine lines and wrinkles were reduced or eliminated. Soon after, aesthetic professionals started using microcurrent in their practices as a “noninvasive facelift”.

I have used other facial stimulators and they contract the muscles, the NuFace® device is not?

The NuFace® device utilizes microcurrent. Microcurrent is a low level current that gently stimulates the facial muscles for long term strength and tone. The NuFace® device will NOT contract the muscles. In certain areas you may feel a slight tingling as the muscles come into balance or if conductivity gel begins to dry (reapply or reactivate with Optimizing Mist).

If I am planning cosmetic surgery, can I use the NuFace® device?

Yes. But most importantly consult your surgeon and follow the doctor’s recommendations. The NuFace® device can be used before surgery to enhance tonicity and balance of the facial muscles. The NuFace® device may also be used after surgery to aid in reducing puffiness and maintain the work of the surgeon. The NuFace® device may be used in conjunction with other facial treatments and injectables.

The NuFace® Device

How do I know the NuFace® device is working?

The NuFace® device does not make noise, vibrate, rotate or beep. The green power indicator light will illuminate notifying you the NuFace® device is on and the treatment is ready to begin. To ensure NuFace® device is working properly, turn the NuFace® device on HIGH, without any conductivity gel, touch both probes to your cheek area or forehead. You will feel a tingling; your NuFace® device is working properly!

What is included with the NuFace® device?

The NuFace® kit includes the NuFace® device, conductivity gel, Optimizing Mist, Instructional DVD, User Manual, alkaline 9 volt battery (inserted) and one year warranty. An additional extended two year warranty is now available.

Is the NuFace® device tested by skincare professionals?

Yes, NuFace® is being recommended by skincare professionals including dermatologists, cosmetic surgeons, and aestheticians for homecare facial toning and to enhance/compliment in-office treatments.

Why is the NuFace® device unique?

The microcurrent technology works with the natural muscle tone to deliver a micro-pulse for an instant lift. This unique instant result is achieved through patent pending alternating positive and negative currents delivered through dual probes. Microcurrent is also known to increase collagen, elastin, circulation, product penetration and ATP.

How long will the 9 volt battery last?

This depends on your amount of usage and brand of battery. Only use an alkaline 9-volt battery. Rechargeable batteries are not recommended.

How much does the NuFace® Kit cost?

The NuFace® kit retails for $325.00
